 4 Easy Steps to becoming a jedi master of health

Yoda is a very wise little green man! I can't tell you how many times his quotes have put my decisions in perspective. He can even put your eating plan in order too! No, but really he can. 

See, when you're starting out on a new journey with your health, you get very excited. Maybe you've become like young Luke Skywalker. You daydream about your friends and peers going off and achieving the very goals you want to reach. You are so ready to become a Jedi with your health choices that start to only focus on the end result rather than how you'll get there. 

You're impatient to move on to the next step and meet the legendary health Jedi Master that you don't see him right in front of you! 

Being a health Jedi isn't about having the will power to get your life in shape. It's about patience, and calm nature.

Anger with your body, fear that you'll never get there, and aggression with not having the foods you want: these all lead to the Dark Side. The Diet Side of the health force. 

Sure, it's easier, but it's not as great as the results that come from the Good Side: balance and peace from your food choices. 

So how can you follow Yoda's Jedi of Health Advice? 

1. Focus on where you're at right now more than where you want to be

"All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things."-Yoda, Jedi Master

Results are great but they aren't everything. If you focus on what you can do right now and where you're currently at with your health, the results of weight loss, muscle gain, lowered cholesterol etc. will all come naturally. 

2."Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try."

We've all been there. "Ugh! I try to eat more fruit instead of snack foods, but it's so hard! I give up!"
No! Just do it! Bring your apple along with you to work/school/Jedi training. Your body is never going to think, "Oh well, it's the thought that counts."
Sorry if that was harsh but the idea of "trying" sets you up with the idea that not following through with your set goals is okay. It's not okay. Do or do not!

3. Be aware of the Dark Side 

Or as I call it, "The Diet Side of the force."
Having excess weight can lead to serious health issues, so getting that weight off the fastest way you can is the solution right? Oh here's a diet that I do that will make me lose 20 pounds in 20 minutes! Yes! 
You do it, you lose the 20 pounds in 20 minutes (yeah it's an exaggeration), then you start getting pissed off that you can't eat like a regular human being. You're getting moody, and your every action is determined by the evil Emperor that came up with the diet and has also been driven completely crazy by it. 
Diets are quicker, easier, more seductive. So how can you tell the difference between the good side and the diet side?

4. A Jedi uses the force when you are calm, at peace, passive.

Healthy Jedi lifestyle means the result is in the doing, not the goal. You're here to be healthy and confident with your everyday food choices. Everything else you want out of becoming one with the force *ahem* with your health, falls into place naturally if you just focus on how you can better yourself for the now. 

Slowly incorporate more healthful foods into your diet with baby steps. Anything that promises you fast results without making healthy lifestyle changes is the diet side of the force calling out to you. 

Yoda wants you to become a Jedi Master of Health, but it's only you that can make it happen!
